Update – Partial Night Road Closures

Due to the potential build-up of volcanic gases along a section of the road between Fudosawa Bridge and Jododaira, this section will close every night between 5:00 pm and 8:00 am the following morning. There may also be temporary closures during the day. Note that the sections of road from the Tsuchiyu Gate to Jododaira, and from the Takayu Gate to Fudosawa will remain open.

Bandai-Azuma Skyline Reopens
The volcanic warning level for Azumayama was reduced to Level 1. The Bandai-Azuma Skyline will be reopened after safety checks and re-installation of road signs and guardrails within the formerly restricted area around the crater.
〇 Bandai-Azuma Skyline (Route 70) Reopening
・The volcanic warning level for Azumayama has been reduced to Level 1. We are aiming to reopen the route quickly once road signs and and guardrails formerly within the restricted area have been re-installed. 
・The route runs from the former Takayu Gate to the former Tsuchiyu Gate (L = 28.7 km)
・The route is planned to reopen on Friday June 28, 2019 (Note: There may be changes to the date depending on work conditions).
・The car park and public toilets at Fudosawa Bridge are available. The car park at Jododaira will be available for free, but the public toilets are unavailable.
・The route may close in the event that volcanic gases exceed safety levels along the roadway.
・Sections of the road will be reduced to alternating one-way traffic until repairs and construction work is complete.
