An annual event in mid-January, Dango-sashi is a traditional activity to pray for bountiful crops in the New Year. During Dango-sashi, people decorate the branches of dogwood trees with colorful, mini-rice dumplings. While recent years have shown a decrease in the number of families that participate in the activity, it is still a tradition that many people hope to relay to future generations. Dango-sashi can be enjoyed in the latter half of January.
